Australian Disability Network Graduate Programs & Internships

Australian Disability Network runs two programs that connect students and jobseekers with disability to leading Australian employers. Both the Stepping Into Internship Program and PACE Mentoring Program provide valuable industry exposure, networking opportunities and employability skill development. 

Australian Disability Network offers mentoring and paid internship opportunities with organisations such as ANZ, Optus, PwC, Telstra, Attorney General's Department, BHP, Comcare and more!

Recruitment Process

Stepping Into Internship Program

The Stepping Into program involves a recruitment process and includes an application, interview and selection processes with employers. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to complete a paid work experience program with one of our participating employers. You will also be required to participate in a one-on-one interview at the commencement of the program. 

Any information about your disability will be removed prior to sending your application to the participating employers.

Employers that you are shortlisted to are responsible for selecting and notifying candidates for interviews and offering candidates a position in their program.

All sections of this Application Form must be completed. Please attach the following information (applications without the following documents attached will not be considered):

  • CV
  • Academic transcript (official or unofficial accepted)
  • Relevant disability information (such as your Disability Access Plan from Disability Services at your University)

The Stepping Into Process Application Process: 

  • Attend information session
  • Submit application online
  • Attend one-on-one screening interview with AND
  • AND will advise if you are shortlisted

Interview Process:

  • Host employers contact shortlisted candidates directly
  • Shortlisted candidates attend interview
  • Host employer advises outcome directly

PACE Mentoring Program

Applicants for PACE Mentoring Program will need to submit an online application form via AND's website. The application form contains:

The Application Form Introductory Message: 

  • Include information about your studies, interests, work history, and anything you are hoping your Mentor can assist with.
  • The more we know about your goals, interests, and work history so far, the better chance we can find a Mentor that is a good fit.

Goals for PACE:

  • You can select as many of these as you would like.

Adjustment Information: 

  • Mention your preferences surrounding communication styles, meeting times, meeting environments, access requirements, or anything else you may find helpful.
  • Doesn’t have to include any information about your disability, mental health condition, or chronic illness.

Remuneration & Career Growth

Stepping Into Internship Program

  • Minimum $25 per hour plus superannuation
  • Valuable degree-relevant work experience in chosen field of study in Winter or Summer university break
  • Develop skills, build network, enhance your resume
  • Valuable feedback
  • Support on workplace adjustments

PACE Mentoring Program

PACE Mentoring Program is free to participate. 

The 4-months program is a great opportunity to:

  • Build confidence
  • Develop employability skills
  • Practice interview skills
  • Network with other professionals
  • visiting worksites
  • Learn some top tips to get a head start on your career
  • Experience professional and personal development

Participants of either Stepping Into or PACE Mentoring programs will be part of the ADN alumni network. We will continue to keep in touch about future opportunities.
