It’s definitely a privilege to be able to experience working with experienced professionals with different backgrounds and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get mentored by such a great team.

What made you accept the internship opportunity with our Construction Solutions team?

I accepted the internship because I saw it as an excellent opportunity to delve deeper into the legal side of construction. Additionally, FTI offers the opportunity to work alongside senior directors who are experienced professionals in the Construction field, so it piqued my interest.

What is the best thing about your internship experience?

Being able to work in a professional environment with experienced professionals who are always willing to explain anything I’m unsure of, as well as practically receiving mentorship from everyone in the Construction Solutions team. Everyone is always willing to help and provide us interns with as much exposure to the Construction industry as they can give us.

What has been challenging?

It's been quite challenging to understand some of the legal terms in construction contracts, which I haven't been taught while studying Civil and Construction Engineering (e.g., "force majeure"). Additionally, it's quite difficult to fully understand specific claims in depth as there are so many documents to go through. However, the Construction Solutions team always offers help and thoroughly explains the claims and terms, enabling me to develop a deeper understanding of them.

How do you make your own impact?

I make my own impact by being proactive, fostering collaboration, and embracing continuous learning. I strive to inspire others through my actions and dedication. Additionally, I give back to my community through volunteer work and mentoring. Motivated by my passion for sharing my personal experiences and inspiring the younger generation, I've dedicated my time volunteering as a student mentor for the Girls+ Engineering Tomorrow (GET) Program at Curtin University since 2021. I aim to make a positive difference in my team, organisation, and the broader community by leading by example.

How would you describe the culture at FTI Consulting and your team?

Everyone has been very welcoming and kind, including those outside the Construction Solutions team. It clearly is a healthy work environment as everyone works together well, showing great teamwork within the company.

What advice would you give current students interested in working for FTI Consulting?

It’s definitely a privilege to be able to experience working with experienced professionals with different backgrounds and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get mentored by such a great team. If I had the opportunity to work here again, I would. So, if it’s something that you’re interested in, apply, and get the chance to experience the healthy and enriching work environment at FTI in addition to receiving excellent mentorship from professionals.
