Team Overview

The position in discussion is with the KGS Benchmarking Team for the US Advisory, which is an integral part of the firm’s strategy to enhance innovation, end-client support, and improves profitability globally.

KGS Capability Hubs (CH) through which the Benchmarking team operates is a team of over 900+ professionals based in Gurugram and Bengaluru.

KGS Benchmarking team has been providing solutions to KPMG member firms globally. By leveraging insights and applying best practices, the team helps create financial risk assessment reports on various vendors of our clients. The team’s capabilities include financial health assessment, data integrity assessment, Benchmarking and company research.

Roles and Responsibilities

Conceive, design and lead benchmarking requests with:

  • Sound understanding of the outsourcing pricing models (for e.g. Time and material model, personnel model and contract model) in ITO or BPO contracts; benchmark pricing data from multiple contracts and drive actionable insights for clients
  • Understand and analyze the components of the rate cards, contracts and MSAs
  • Benchmarking of support functions, salary, cost benchmarking, and vendor assessment from a business perspective
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine external performance levels and performance trends in various areas and identify the gaps for the client and propose performance improvement areas
  • Use primary/secondary research to gather and analyze data and summarize findings in PowerPoint reports
  • Competitors: comparative performance of companies on financial and operational KPIs, relative strengths and weaknesses, etc.
  • Benchmarking of back-office functions and vendor assessment from a business perspective
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine external performance levels and performance trends in various areas and identify the gaps for the client and propose performance improvement areas
  • Use primary/ secondary research tools to gather and analyze data and summarize findings in PowerPoint and Power BI reports
  • Be a part of location assessment engagements assisting clients in choosing the most optimal locations for setting up their presence
  • Conduct peer and industry benchmarking of organizations or countries on a select range of parameters across functions or operations
  • Working knowledge of databases such as APQ, Gartner, HFS
  • Experience on research products such as Thought Leadership reports, Point of view documents etc
     

Prepare client deliverables (MS PowerPoint, MS Excel) and client management

  • Connect with research and benchmarking users (advisors from KPMG member firms across the world) to understand project objectives, scope, and deliverables
  • Manage available staff resources and secure additional resources as required
  • Effectively manage the request intake process including participating in project scoping calls to clarify understanding and prepare a detailed project scope document capability
  • Deals confidently with challenges by responding with a rationale to support their argument

Other key roles and responsibilities

  • Guide Associate Consultants (AC) and Business Associates (BA) across each stage of projects – from communicating client requirements, scoping and work allocation, to continuous supervision and review across secondary research, data analysis and discussions, storyboarding, and preparing deliverables
  • Ensure highest quality (for self and team members output) and on-time delivery for all the projects
  • Independently handle multiple projects, with minimal supervision from Manager/Assistant Manager
  • Provide on-the-job and other classroom-based training (technical/databases) to SAs and BAs, and implement a regular feedback mechanism
    • Work collaboratively with onshore KPMG teams in the development of and delivery of presentations and key findings
    • Drive the team’s operations (staffing, MI, etc.) and key initiatives (such as training, the team get together, BD collaterals, etc.)
    • Contribute to BU level initiatives / assist in executing tasks (e.g. training)
