Teadora Sorial graduated with a Bachelor of Speech Pathology at Australian Catholic University in 2020 and is now a Speech Pathologist at Learning Links.

What's your job about?

My job is about helping others within the community to enhance their ability to communicate and participate within society. I do this through my work in clinics and in schools where I see children who may have speech difficulties or difficulties in using/understanding language. By working together with the client I can provide appropriate speech services as well as provide families with strategies to support them. I also conduct assessments that help to uncover certain speech diagnoses - an essential step that lays the foundation for future progress and client success.

What's your background?

Throughout high school, I always had a passion for this field. My brother himself attended services at Learning Links in which he had shown remarkable progress thanks to the dedication & support provided by the team here. This experience influenced my own decisions and career path to become a Speech Pathologist which I am grateful for commencing. Towards my final semester of university, a job position for new graduates was advertised at Learning Links and I knew it was something I had to jump on. So far, I have been working here for 6 months – the support provided by the team has been amazing. They also offer great supervision on a weekly basis, internal professional development days, and I have also been given the opportunity to complete some great external PD in which costs have been covered.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

If you have a background in allied health who has a great passion for service provision, is friendly, dedicated, and a hard worker I would recommend working at Learning Links. There are some great opportunities for new graduates to develop current skills as well as gradually work their way up to higher positions (e.g., you can become a supervisor, manager, or work across several different settings).

What's the coolest thing about your job?

I love making an impact on families and being a part of each child’s own personal journey. I’m also very grateful for the work-life balance Learning Links offers through its flexibility in hours and locations of work. I also love how you can work across several different settings – whether this is in a clinic, in schools, in different programs or in a preschool. This means you can develop your skills across several different settings and are not limited!!!
