Wellington

The Asset Strategy Gas team are on the search for an energetic person, with a can-do attitude, to join us in a role where you will be willing to put your engineering mind to good use on our varied gas networks.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team responsible for ensuring Powerco’s gas infrastructure is maintained to provide a safe and resilient service, meeting our customers’ needs while playing an important role in supporting our transition to a 2050 carbon zero future.

We are a small team that can offer a variety of challenging work with people who are ready to share their knowledge in a supportive and caring environment.

If you are a recent graduate with a couple of years’ experience, or in your last year of a Bachelor of Engineering degree at a New Zealand University then we would love to hear from you.

You will be responsible for:

  • Gathering and interpreting asset and defect data to assist in identifying maintenance and capital work required
  • Supporting regulatory reporting requirements
  • Helping support and develop the Gas Works Plan and project scoping documents
  • Providing ad-hoc support to asset strategy, operations, commercial, operations support, regulatory or any other Powerco business unit as required
  • Helping support our low carbon gas future and strategy

To successfully fill the role you will need:

  • A Bachelor of Engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Chemical)
  • Problem-solving and analysis skills
  • Experience in utility asset management is desired but not essential
  • Experience with reliability engineering tools (e.g., FMEA) is desired but not essential
  • Experience in the use of GIS is desired but not essential

Applications close:  Friday 17 June 2022

Our ability to get the best out of people is what sets Powerco apart. We realise that candidates – especially from underrepresented and neurodiverse backgrounds – often won’t apply for roles unless they meet ALL the criteria.  We encourage anyone who shares our passion for connecting communities to apply for any role that aligns with your strengths and interests. We will provide a safe space where you can bring your whole self to work and thrive.
