About the role:

Based in our Perth office, the team are leading expert in the field of terrestrial ecology, with strengths across vertebrate and invertebrate fauna surveys, targeted significant species surveys, technical reporting, and impact assessments.

We have a comprehensive pipeline of current and upcoming exciting projects spanning across the Pilbara, Central Deserts, Mid-west, Goldfields, and Southwest regions of Western Australia.

Joining the terrestrial ecology team, you will carry out the following:

  • Take part in terrestrial fauna field surveys with experienced ecologists to a range of remote and diverse environments across Western Australia (and potentially interstate).
  • Analyse ecological data and prepare clear, concise technical reports.
  • Liaison with technical and subject matter specialists;
  • Preparation of proposals and budgets for straightforward projects under guidance.
  • Provide technical support and advice to the broader environment team or receive appropriate mentoring to develop your technical skills.
  • Opportunity to expand your knowledge across various ecological disciplines (aquatic ecology, terrestrial ecology, marine science, environmental impact assessment, mine closure and rehabilitation), and undertake training and development to drive your career progression.

About you:

To be successful in the role you’ll need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience and enthusiasm in the field of zoology (outside of university).
  • Terrestrial fauna survey experience.
  • Ability to undertake surveys, generally up to two weeks at a time in remote locations.
  • A good level of physical fitness and ability to pass a fitness assessment for field surveys.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including highly developed technical reporting skills.
  • GIS and spatial ecology experience will be seen as beneficial, but not essential.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • An interest in embracing innovation to continually improve the work we do.
