Talent Acquisition and Employment Branding Intern

I am lucky to spend about 50% of my time helping with Recruitment and the other 50% on Employment branding

6.00 AM

My day typically starts around 6am. I will get up and get ready and have breakfast. Luckily, I packed by bag and made my lunch the night before so it’s not a mad rush in the morning. Around 7am I head out the door ready to make my way to work on public transport. I spend my journey just listening to music and relaxing before a busy day.

8.00 AM

I normally get to the office around 8am. I head up the stairs to level 2, to my area. Once I am here, I say hi to my co-workers and find a free desk. At TWG we hot desk, so you aren’t often sitting in the same spot every day. Once I find a desk and book it, I set up my laptop and organise myself for the day, by putting my lunch in the fridge, filling up my water bottle and making myself a coffee. I will then look over my calendar to see if I have any meetings planned and then will check if I have received any emails.

9.00 AM

The office is normally a mixture of work from home and in the office. Mondays are normally a day when everyone will come in. On Mondays we have a quick smaller team catchup, to see what is going on for the week and what everyone has going on work wise. It’s a good place to talk about any roadblocks in your projects and see what everyone else is up to for the week. We all go around the table letting everyone else know what we have going on and talk about any overall issues that we are encountering as a team.

9.30 AM

After this it is straight to work, I am lucky to spend about 50% of my time helping with Recruitment and the other 50% on Employment branding. So normally in the mornings I will start out with screening some jobs or seeing if there are any other little tasks, I need to do surrounding recruitment. It has been very interesting to learn and help with recruitment. We normally have a little 10 min catch up in a smaller team, 3 days a week to talk about how Christmas recruitment is going.

11.00 AM

Around now some of my co-workers and I will normally go for a little break and walk down to the café to grab a coffee and just to have a quick break. We will chat along the way about how we are or how are work is going. After this I get back to some work and continue screening some Christmas jobs until lunch time.

12.30 PM

Yay Lunch Time! Most days I bring my own lunch, that I have made the night before. I normally chill a little bit and enjoy my lunch.

1.00 PM

Some Mondays we have wider team catch ups and today was one of them. We all head to a meeting room and talk about what’s going on, any updates and any roadblocks that we may be facing. It is a good opportunity to see all your co-workers and hear what everyone is up to.

2.00 PM

Its back to work! Normally in the afternoon I will work on some employment branding content. Today I am building some web pages on the Internal careers site. This is nice and creative and allows me to play around with the different web pages and ideas.

5.00 PM

Home time! I pack up my things and get ready to make the journey home, I walk to the bus ready to make my way home. Once I’m home I organise my bags for the next day and make my lunch. I normally chill for a little bit or work on my university assessments. I try to head to the gym most days. By the time I get home from the gym, it is time for bed. I get ready and normally try to watch a little bit of a TV show on Netflix or will read a few pages of my book.
