Transpower graduates develop the technical expertise, skills, and behaviour necessary to succeed in engineering roles throughout the business.

They complete a circa two-year rotational programme, with regular coaching and mentoring from a range of experts, that will provide an overview of Power System careers at Transpower. They may be part of:

  • The crew completing the annual HVDC outage
  • Modelling generator control systems and investigating power system events
  • Identifying and studying risks to system operations - short, medium, and long term
  • Analysing grid and generation outages to ensure they don't cause undue operational risk
  • Helping to plan and size the Transmission Grid of the future

Building relationships across the business, our graduates rotate through different engineering areas to gain both technical understanding and depth, and outstanding people skills - along with a good understanding of both internal and external customers.

Ultimately, our grads explore where and how they wish to shape their Engineering careers with us.
