Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders at Ramsay Health Care

We are committed to improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and supporting them to enhance their employability.

Paul Ramsay was a visionary business leader who left Australia a remarkable legacy. Through his generous bequest, the Paul Ramsay Foundation continues his philanthropic legacy through a shared commitment to help break cycles of disadvantage in Australia.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education portfolio aims to improve education outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth. For example, in 2021, the foundation has committed $2 million towards NT's Aboriginal Justice Agreement, which will go towards several initiatives aimed at breaking the cycle of incarceration in the Northern Territory for local Aboriginal. In 2022, the foundation donated $3m gift to support the Culturally Nourishing Schooling (CNS) project, which embraces Indigenous-led education practices to address systemic issues that prevent Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students’ success.

In addition, at Ramsay we are always looking for opportunities to maximise Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander employment. The relationship between Joondalup Health Campus and Indigenous healthcare training provider Marr Mooditj is a great example, which started ten years ago and the hospital currently employs some of the graduates and takes students on placement.
